Why
are Keramos Tiles different?
.. |
|
Keramos Tiles are hand crafted and hand decorated. They are a profusion of new
styles and reproduction of classic designs.
Created carefully, each tile itself is a work of art. No two tiles are
absolutely identical and their variations enhance their beauty. A single
sample can therefore not be taken as an accurate representation. Some of
these handcrafted tiles may also have minor chips, pinholes and
blemishes. These imperfections are the characteristics of the product. |
|
Where
can I use the Keramos Tile?
.. |
|
Terracota, terrarossa, antique stone and other tiles vary enormously and consequently the suitability of each range for different applications also varies. The strength of the tile will dictate its suitability for different applications.
We advise you to consult with your sales executive to ensure that the tile you choose is suitable for the application you have in mind. |
|
Which
Keramos Tile can I use for "heavy traffic areas"? |
|
Any
of our Stone Products and Clay Pavers can be used for "heavy
traffic areas" such as commercial, official and public places. |
|
What
is Roman Mosaic? Is it suitable for all areas? |
|
In roman Mosaic, the stone or the ceramic tile is cut to size into tessare and assembled on mesh as per the design. Roman Mosaic can be set on walls and floors. However, it is not recommended for wet areas due to the extra maintenance required.
Ceramic Roman Mosaic is not recommended for high traffic areas. |
|
Is
Sealing Required?
.. |
|
Sealers are recommended for use on most unglazed surfaces such as the Clay Pavers, Stone Roman Mosaic, Dimensional Stone and Antique Stone to protect the stone from any kind of staining and also to enhance its natural colour. Under normal conditions, sealants will usually last three to four years and for maintenance, follow the manufacture's instructions. Roval 1088 is recommended for all Antique Stones, Dimensional Stone and Stone Mosaic Borders and Motifs. Roval 1088 gives a "wet look" to the surface. Hydro
Block can also be used if a natural look is required. It can also
be used as a grout sealer. Reflecta Polish is recommended if a high
gloss look is required. |
|
How
do I install the tiles?
.. |
| Before
installation, please check you entire shipment as the use of the tiles
constitutes acceptance of our product. No claims are accepted after
installation.
Due do their handmade character, their installation requires a little more care than the regular machine-made tiles. All our mosaics are pre-assembled on fibre mesh and are ready-to-lay. The two most common installation methods are "thick-bed" and "thin-set". The choice of method depends on the structure and condition of the surface to be tiles as well as its intended use. The "thick-bed" technique involves applying tiles over a bed of portland cement mortar up to 2 inches thick. In the "thin-set" method, the tiles are set or bonded directly to the existing surface with a thin coat of adhesive up to an eighth of an inch in thickness. In general, if the surface to be tiled is in poor condition a thick-bed method is best. Where the existing surface is rigid, round and smooth, a thin-set method may work better. ‘Grout’ is applied to the joints after the tile has set, depending on the mortar used; this may take anywhere from three hours to two days after installation. ‘Grout’ is mixed to the proper consistency and then applied with a rubber float or squeegee to an area of approximately 20 square feet at a time. Rubbing firmly over the tiled surface pushes the grout into the joints and cleanses most of the excess. The excess grout is then wiped clean.

How
do I look after Keramos tiles?
.. |
|
Wiping the tiles with a damp sponge, mop or cloth is all that is necessary to maintain their luster. Where moderate staining occurs, routine cleaning may be performed with window glass cleaners. A mild solution of hot water and all-purpose liquid cleaners is excellent for cleaning floors, walls and countertops. If the grout is dirty, scrubbing with a plastic bristle brush may be required. For heavily soiled surfaces, a stronger solution should be used under supervision.
The cleaning solution used should always be rinsed removed from the surface with water. Soap should not be used to clean ceramic tiles as it forms a film dulling the luster and promotes the growth of mildew and bacteria in damp areas such as showers. In particular, avoid using acid-based detergents that are harsh and corrosive. Acid should NEVER be used to clean the tiles. Dirt in the from of powder and sand, aggravate the abrasion caused by traffic; their presence and direct access to the premises from outside are factors that shorten the life of the tiles. You
should therefore keep the floor as clean as possible in order to get
around this. |
